Gayatri Sabne

Design engineer. I design the product and ship the code.

Hi there!

I design and ship full-stack products. Seven years as a software engineer, now working as a design engineer: the same person owns the Figma file and the pull request. Two things I built recently, below.

ember.

Two phones running Sol: the home screen with a week of sunrises and today's pitch-matching lesson, and a completed exercise reading in tune at A3, 220 Hz.

Sol

A calm instrument for your ear. Sing the note and the sun rises to meet it. Real-time pitch detection in the browser, and nothing leaves your device.

About

Seven years as a software engineer, most of it on frontend at startups, then a deliberate move into product design. I stayed close to the code on purpose: the work I like is the stretch between a Figma frame and a merged pull request, where most of the real decisions get made.

Ember and Sol are both mine end to end: research, design system, the app, the deploy. The case studies are written as decisions and tradeoffs, because that is what I would want to read.

What I’m looking for: a design engineering or product design role on a small team that ships, where owning both halves is an asset rather than a category error.

Off the clock I photograph mountains. The photograph at the top of this page is one of mine.

Designed in Figma, built with Next.js 16 and Tailwind v4, deployed on Vercel. Unbounded + Rethink Sans.
